    House training//genral puppy Q (pic)

I have looked through a number of posts, so hopefully these questions werent answered recently.

I just got a puppy from the pound just over a week ago, hes a cute little beagle mixy type guy. His name is Jake.

House training is comming ok, those first few days were maddenging b/c he didnt understand why we were going out every 10 mins. I guess the fact that it was raining didnt help things.

But now, he is quick to go when we go outside.  But he has no problem at all about going inside.  I know hes still new, but I was just wondering what i need to do to let him know that he is not sopposed to pee on the floor.  Its not that I am not taking him out enough, it is like every 20 mins he will cop a sqaut and look up at me while doing it.  I have cleaned up the messes and put some pet smell remover stuff.  I say "No!" and pick him up and take him outside.

    Any advice is appreciated.

I have tried and tried to include a pic, but i am having great difficulty lowering pic quallity so its not to large to post. oh well  ( figured it out)

How old is he? You need to be watching him at all times if he is not in the crate. The minute you see him looking like he is copping a squat, say no, pick him up an carry him out on the way out tell him go out pee pee out side, (You need to have the greatest treats in the whole world, they need to be small, I use natrual balance roll and cut into small pieces, but Anne S has a great salmon recipe on this board. ) Don't let him know you have the treats on you, as he's going say in a regular, soft voice good boy pee pee over and over until he's done when he is done treat him immediately give him the treat  and throw a party, happy louder praise Goood booy pee pee outside. you need to treat him the minute he's done not when you take him in.
By you taking him out every ten minutes isn't letting him know what you want him to do. set up a schedule, first thing in the morning, then depending on his age, every few hours, after every meal and after play time.

He was 8-9 weeks old when i got him, so hes about 9-10 weeks now.

ok, well that is basically what I am doing now, I was just wanting to make sure there wasnt any other things I was sopposed to do.

Thanks so much for your advice!

Nope, that should do it. Oh I didn't see that face the first time, that changes everything, he's too cute! You're gonna just have to let him pretty much do anything he wants to do![sm=biggrin.gif]
Welcome to the board, and what's his name?
