    1ST Post!

Hello this is my first post and I just wanted to tell you a little about my pup. I have a 4 1/2 month old female rough Collie named Lizzie (She is an EXACT replica of Lassie, marking wise) Well she was a tough cookie to housebreak but since getting her a big crate (I was a little hesitant about getting a big crate, thought she would urinate on one side sleep on the other) she is going on 2 weeks accident free!!

Well here is a bit of bragging (LOL) I was sort of hesitant on getting her a crate because I am a VERY busy person and I figured
That  I would not have the time to crate train her and that I did not want to go through endless barking (and let me tell u she is very vocal) But after a month at home I decided it was for the best. I got her a large crate, which should last well past adulthood. Well she looks like she was born in the crate! I mean did not train her at all to be in the crate or not to bark when in there. She is absolutely crazy with her crate and at night she will go running into her crate as soon as I tell her ‘Go#%92 The best part is that even if she sees/hears me in the morning she will not bark or whine for me to let her out, she is a very good girl in her crate.

Well this post is a bit long, I have a little training question but I will put it up later. Thanks!

    Hi and welcome!

Congrat, congrats! I prefer not to crate my girl, she would go as crazy as you described but some dogs actually see it as a safety area for them like a den. Wow, that is amazing how well she took to it, just e sure to exercise her like crazy if she is going to be cooped up in that crate all day! My boss crates his rat terrier, he is know about 2 years old and he dosnt even have to latch it, sometimes he'll come home and the door will be wide open but the dog is still curled up and cozy in his safe haven! Your dog is going to be a good size, you could always corner off a room like the kitchen using baby gates if you ever feel that the crate is too confining for such a active breed!
Where are the PICS???? We love puppy pics!

thank u for the warm welcome! I will post pics up asap! Lizzie is outside during the day while im at work, in a secure and confined area about 12ft by 9ft (very roughly measured) and is only crated during the night or if i have to go out and will be back quickly, its just that i could not have her loose in the house she is a bit mischevious.

I love her to bits, even though she is not of show quality, but AKC does not make a good dog (she is registered though). She got her ears that decided to prick up, and that makes her look even skinnier than she is at the moment. I say she is going through her "ugly" stage, kind of like the ugly duckling who grew up to be a graceful swan. This girl will eat up the house if she could and she is still so skinny! I am starting her on vitamins soon to see if she will gain a pound or 2.

I'd say shes at about 20ish pund, I dont think she will be so big but im not sure, she my first collie

I dont know who likes the crate more, lizzie or my son. He waits every morning for me to take her out then he will make a beeline for the crate and scream bloody murder if anyone tries to take him out!
