Basically any dog as well as people are exposed to a great many things outside. For dogs and cats, worms are the most prevalent. Meaning if there is a lot of feces in your yard, it would be good to remove it. Check with your vet and talk to him or her about various concerns you have.
Potty training starts the minute you get your puppy. I have always stated to set a schedule and live by it. Take your puppy to an area and let him urinate or unload there. And return him to the area each time. Especially after eating or playing. Eventually the puppy establishes their own territory and it will make potty training easier. Plus start training by getting a create. Dogs generally do not foul their place of sleep.
All puppies tend to whine and cry in a crate when you first start. And set your alarm for 3 or 4 AM for several weeks as you will be getting up to take your puppy outside. Feed 3 to 4 times a day initially and as they get older adjust their food. I have a rule of thumb that no water or food after 8 PM. Makes it easier to manage house training.
