    housebroken...but very excited?

Dweezil hasn't "gone to the bathroom" in the house for weeks now .. *knock on wood* -- she's 6 months, i got her when she was 3 months.  So, she doesn't actually pee in the house TO PEE, but, when she gets excited (i come to the baby gate at the bathroom, or my dad walks in, or she meets someone new) she piddles.  If i haven't taken her out recently, she will empty a good amount out on the floor ... I'm wondering if this has anything to do with TRAINING, or if this is just excitability that *might* fade away, because she doesn't stop in the middle of the carpet or go to a corner or even use the puppy pads anymore, she really does wait until i come home to get her...but then...will get excited...  any ideas?  I dont want to punish her...

This is submissive urination....or just excited urination.  She can't control it, and cockers are quite well known for submissive.  Make your comings and goings very very calm, and give her more chances to empty the bladder.  IME with cockers, yep, they will grow out of it.

Submissive peeing is a common problem, especially among female puppies.  First of all, you should never scold her.  She cannot control it.

There are some ways to help with this.  When you or your dad walks in, ignore her for a few minutes.  Pretend she's not there.  After she's calmed down a bit, try to have her sit.  Dogs usually dont pee submissively when they're sitting.

You can do the same thing when a guest comes.  Put her on a leash, and have her sit before the guest comes in.  Then tell the guest to ignore her for a few minutes until she's calmer.
