    Hi Fiend,

The only time I've used a belly band on a dog is to stop marking behavior in an older dog.  But, if your trainer thinks it would help with housetraining, I don't see any reason not to try it  Male dogs are like little boys left to run wild with a squirt gun that's loaded at all time and ready to fire.  They just can't help themselves sometimes.  I think more so than with a female dog, you have to be totally vigilant in thoroughly cleaning every accident they have in the house and spraying it down with No Go to eliminate any remaining urine odor.  They just can't help themselves from opening fire on a previously peed upon spot.

Now, you can get that quality to work to your advantage--When you take him out to pee, take him out on a leash so you have control of where he goes, and have him find a favorite rock or tree to pee on.  I can guarantee you that when you take him out to that spot the next time, he will automatically pee on it again, he can't help himself!!!  We recently adopted a 6 year old male dog, and he has his "pee rock" out front.  If I lead him to it, he will pee.

So, maybe use the belly band in the house, take it off when you take him out and lead him to his pee rock, and when he uses it, give him tons of praise and a treat, too.  And, remember to limit ths area of the house he's allowed in and be vigilant and consistent.

What is the particular potty training trouble you are having?  I am not saying it is a bad idea I just want to know what we are trying to fix exactly.  Is it a marking behavior, a lack of house breaking, etc?
