Potty Training 11-month old rescued pup

Hello! We adopted an 11-month old lab mix a few days ago and am working on potty training. He will pee outside when you take him and
sometimes poops, but also will go inside with no warning. He never
has to go poop after he eats - it's hours later. We try to take him out
every 1/2 hr and praise praise praise when he goes. We ring a bell
on the door every time we put him out. He doesn't go in his crate at all
but we only crate him when we go away because he was in a cage for
the past 3 months of his life. Unfortunately, we see no behavior changes before he is about to let go. Help!!! Somehow, I was better at this
with my last dog!! Thanks, Kristi

Hi Kristie welcome to the forum. Relax, he's just a puppy, I have it all written out it's pretty easy to comprehend and it really works, I used this for my 7 yr. old and an 18 mo at the time. the link is on the bottom
The puppy, doesn't know the difference between peeing outside and peeing inside, you need to teach him that and the quickest and easiest way is to catch him in the act before he goes in the house that's when you teach him. read my article I hope it helps. Try to enjoy him.
We like picture of the puppies too.

It takes a dog a little more time to settle into a new home and family. Even a dog who was fully housetrained in his old home may become totally confused about housetraining in his new home. Just be consistent, and patient, and give it some more time - he's still just getting his bearings. Good luck!
