Help Princess is out of control

I don't know what to do with her, she has never been like this I just went and let the dogs out they all go out at the sametime they all run to the same tree out there its like a race between them 2 see who gets there first well princess and copper got to the tree and princess attacked copper thank god not hurt but she had him by the head.  Like I said in my other post princess was abused when i got her about 9 years ago and she's always been afraid of things and never went after anyone but now she's been going after daisy who does nothing to her daisy can just walk passed princess and princess will growl at her I don't know what to do and getting rid of her is not an option I couldn't.  How do I get her to stop???  I don't want her hurting the other dogs I just don't know what to do. Last night princess was laying at my feet and i was swinging one foot back and forth (habit of mine) and copper likes to come and lay under the foot i'm swinging and he'll start taking one paw and hitting my foot with it well he came to do that and princess went to go after him, the aggression is toward daisy and copper, i haven't seen princess go after lucky. I don't understand why the aggression now?

Any hints on what to do? I watch the dog whisperer and try to do what he does but my dogs just look at me as though i'm crazy. I don't know if it's something I'm doing? Sometimes princess will growl at me and she never did that.

I have one hint - stop emulating the Dog Whisperer and invest in taking Princess to a good positive training class.  That way, you will learn good techniques of leadership that your dogs will understand, and human leadership is important in multi-dog households.  If your dog is 1-2 years old, she may be vying for the position of pack leader among the dogs.
There's a great new DVD by Trish King called Multiple Dogs that can help owners understand these dynamics better.  I think you can get it at Tawzer Dog Videos - just Google.
You can find a positive trainer at www.apdt.com or www.clickertraining.com

Princess is 9 years old Daisy is 10 years old Lucky 6 years old and Copper the only male in the house is 3 or 4.  Well I tried that thing he does with his hand on her neck thats about all and that shhh thing. Princess never been agressive to anyone or agressive towards the other dogs until recently so I don't understand it.
    Thanks for the suggestion

    AMEN, Anne.

Your dogs reaction to what she sees as your really bizarre new behavior is perfectly understandable.

I am curious.  Did you notice the disclaimers and warnings surrounding all of the commercial breaks asking you not to try CM's techniques at home without a proffessional?

What motivated you to ignore the warnings?

I only ask, because my clients do it ALL of the time, and end up making things worse.  I am hoping by understanding you r motivation to ignore the warning i can help people from making the same mistake.

I think a 9 year old Rottie who suddenly becomes aggressive should probably get to the vet for some bloodwork and a checkup. She may be in physical pain or something may be off hormonally.

well seeing how I said shhh don't think I need to have a professional to teach me the art of saying shhhh and putting my hand on her neck don't think I need to be told not to do that lol.  I watch CM show all the time I don't sit there and try the things he does on to my dogs but the shhh and the neck thing but the neck thing was just me putting my hand on it in getting her to stop the growling when one of the dogs come next to her.

It's scary when she attacks the other dogs because she gets them by the head and neck and I would hate for her to hurt one of them.

Thanks Jones I think that's what I'll do because she has never had aggression like I said she was abused when I got her and she's always been scared but the aggression is something new  and after having her since she's was 6months old and her starting this isn't like her at all.[:(

I watch the show all the time.  He's made it really clear that the shhh is HIS sound that works for HIM.  That not everyone needs to use the same sound.  One guy on the show was sort of making a hut, hut, hut sound.  And, CM was saying how that sound worked for him, that was his shhh.  I'm not criticizing just pointing out things that I see that get missed by others.  I think you've gotten great advice from the everyone.

    PS--Is that 3rd dog a chowy mix???

Thank you willow, Yes she is her name's Lucky she's 6 and a sweetheart, but she always looks like she's sad for some reason lol. Lucky's Chow and Blacklab.

I just thought I would try the sound in hoping it would stop her because it's not like her but she's going to the vet on monday called the vet they couldn't believe I was talking about Princess.

I would take Dasiey & Princess to the vet to see if anything is wrong. Could be your pack is changing, I would keep them seperated when you are not there.

I think that a vet visit is a good start if this is new, or escalating, behavior.  It certainly never hurts to rule out a physical cause.
