• Behavior with other dogs now Elizabeth Cunningham Posted : 8/22/2006 1:38:48 AM Ok... my dog has a few issues. She is very friendly with people and other dogs, but I have noticed when I walk her with a leash, she all of a sudden becomes this aggressive dog I don't even know. She is still nice to people, but when she sees other dogs when she's on her leash and her gentle leader, she wants to attack every dog in sight. I have been taking her to the dog park for years and she has never been like this before, then in the past months this aggression came out of no where. It's strange too because there are 2 other dogs that live with me and she is fine with them, just isn't the same when she sees other dogs outside when I walk her. I don't know what has gotten into her but I'd love for my dog to go back to the sweet thing she use to be. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for reading. • spiritdogs Posted : 8/24/2006 4:03:41 PM It looks like aggression, but the correct terminology for your dog's behavior is "reactivity". She is likely either frustrated, or frightened, but if she were truly aggressive, she would behave the same way off lead.  This is a handler exacerbated problem - get a copy of "Scaredy Dog -Understanding and Rehabilitating Your Reactive Dog" by Ali Brown.  Another good one on the subject is "Feisty Fido" by Patricia McConnell. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
