    chews off collar

Not her own collar - if I leave Winnie and Petey alone, she goes to work on his collar.  I don't want to leave them without collars and tags on, but I'm really sick of having to buy Petey a new collar every 3 weeks.

And I've tried different types of collars - she seems to like the ones with plastic latches the best (cause they're easy to chew through), so we stopped getting those (after trying bitter apple and various other substances on them that didn't stop her).  I've tried cloth collars, leather collars - it takes a little longer, but eventually she chews through them.  She'd rather chew off his collar than play with her kong or chew on a rawhide stick.  I'd try a chain collar but I'm afraid she'd hurt her teeth and gums chewing on that (and I don't like them).

    Any suggestions?

PS - I know someone will suggest crating them, but that's not a possibility.  Winnie hurts herself when crated in her attempts to get out and our trainer finally said to scrap them, so they're kept in an x-pen while we're gone or if we're home but busy.

How about putting a dead choker on him?  That way you can still leave him with something to hold his tags, but she's not as likely to be able to chew through it.    Just buy a choker that is just big enough to go around his neck and connect the two ends together with one of those clampy things....I *think* they're called caribeners?

Or a keyring. A girl I used to work with did that for her Pit Bulls, who also chewed each other's collars off.

You could put them in seperate x pens, or pen one and leave the other in the same room, loose.
