manipulative peeing

Hello

I've searched the internet on ways to solve this issue we're having with our puppy and nothing seems to match, if anyone has any advice PLEASE let me know ...

We adopted a corgi mix about 4 months ago and housetrained her right away. She is now 10 months old has been completely reliable up until a few weeks ago when our neighbors brought home a new puppy. Now whenever the puppy's outside she goes nuts racing around and barking and whining trying to get us to let her out. And since the

uppy is going through housetraining, he's outside ALL the time! When we don't let her outside (which since we know her schedule we know when she really has to go potty and when she's faking) she will come right infront of us, look up and start to pee/poo. Now this is where I'm not sure what to do, we usually scold her and tell her outside, but upon hearing the word "outside" she gets all excited b/c thats where the puppy is. The scolding is completely ignored and she has manipulted her way outside to the puppy.

Any ideas?

I've never heard this called "manipulative" elmination before. I think that your corgi is craving socialization with this puppy. Can you arrange playtimes with the pup? That will help out both pups.

Or if you don't want the two dogs to be pals, then you should close the shades, limit your corgi's freedom, take her on a walk when she's acting out. Crating her might work as well.

The scolding isn't going to work. What your corgi hears is "nyah, nyah, nyah." Kinda like what the s on the Charlie Brown specials sound like. Stopping this behavior will be unreliable, but redirecting the energy that goes into this behavior should work.

I'm sure that others will come along and help you out with more suggestions.

I need mor info, how does she know when the puppy is outside?? Can she see them from somewhere in your house, or does he bark, or. . .??

I think she probably does really have to go when she sees the puppy because all the running around and getting excited is stimulating her to need to go much like a walk would.

I think it's starting off as she wants to see the puppy and turning into she now needs to go out due to all the excitment getting things going.

We live in a townhouse complex where the units are tightly packed in so she can hear the dog/neighbours voices if any of the windows are open even a crack.

I have no doubt she's craving socialization, she's a social butterfly, I would love for them to have puppy playtime and we have a few times, but the neighbor doesn't seem too keen on it so I don't want to push.

once we go outside, she doesn't seem to have to go, we usually stay outside with her till after the puppy goes inside thinking she may go then but she usually doesn't.

Hummmmm. . . as soon as she starts acting excited is she getting scolded or only after the accident happens. If she's getting scolded it could be a submissive thing.

Either way, I think maybe teaching her the "quiet" command would work, it would calm her down and she wouldn't have the accident because she'd be doing something else to distract her from that.
