help with new greyhound or at least greyhound mix

I'm brand new here.  I have a question about my newely adopted Greyhound's flatulance. She is a Pound puppy, they found her as a stray.  I completed the adoption papers thursday, she was spayed friday and I picked her up yesterday.  I know that greyhounds have a tendency to fart in the car Crying.  However, i am worried about her sleepong and farting. Could this be from the spaying or the 1/2 pill of acepromazine (doggy tranquilizer) to keep her placid so her stitches will not pop.

    Gemini,
I've got a pharaoh hound that is pretty flatulent by my own standards.  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  I would, however, get your dog on a good food, you could try eliminating protein sources one at a time.  My guy doesn't tolerate chicken or turkey at all, but does fine with salmon, lamb, beef or bison.  Once you get the dog settled and on a good food, the flatulence should slow down or possibly stop.

I have owned 4 greyhounds and they absolutely ;pass gas a lot more than other breeds (most other greyhound owners will tell you the same thing!). Sometimes a diet change can help (the current food they use at the greyhound rescue I volunteer at has made a difference in the amount of gas they pass). Also, many greyhound owners swear by adding a little yogurt in their food. This farting problem is probably normal for your dog, especially when excited or nervous!
