Two Female Dogs and Lots of aggression

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I am having a problem with my two female dogs.  We have Fanny who is a min-pin mixed with chi, and Puppy that is a rat terrier.  We adopted Fanny first and she is older about 6 or so.  Then I found Puppy on my way to work one day.  Puppy was always the submissive one.  If we are paying attention to Fanny and Puppy jumps up on the bed or couch, fanny will growl and snap at her.  I know this aggression is because of the attention.  But the big problem began when Puppy decided that she isn't going to be pushed around anymore.

So now if Fanny growls first then Puppy will growl and then they try to eat each other!  We have to separate the dogs, because once they start with each other they can't even look at one another without growling.  And this behavior has progessed on to random growls for no reason ( or so I think), with either Puppy or Fanny starting it.  Mind you the growling only happens when they are laying near us.  I really need help with this situation, I've tried separating them for a certain time and it seems nothing is working.  We are normally on our bed watching TV or reading or whatever so this behavior happens there.  So now I'm trying to keep them both off of the bed, so we'll see.  But if there are any suggestions or help anyone can offer, I would appreciate it so much!!!!!!!!  Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

It's pricey, but Brenda Aloff's book, "Aggression in Dogs" is interesting, and she is a terrier owner, so she can feel your pain LOL.  There are lots of good management tools in that book, and ones that work with terriers.
