    This has got to stop

the behavior is mine not Molly's [8|] I can't go into a pet store w/out buying her a toy!!!
I have an order coming from dog.com and I even went to get her food today and bought another toy.
I must stop....I'm turning my dog into an obsessive dog toy collector.

You mean you are already an obsessive dog toy collector...  ;)  I too suffer from this type of affliction.  I blame it on never planning to have kids, so I spend my money on the dogs.  I buy toys and extra treats when I go to the store.  I even find myself going, "do I need to get anything from the pet store?" on my way home from work.  lol...  I just want to get them stuff!!!  :D

We can form a support group, BF will gladly sign me in, as I cannot stop on my own free will. Payday i Friday and I have a huge shopping list for the dogs, about 1/3 of which they actually need.

my DH's birthday is tomorrow and my son's is Friday - at lunch today I go into the next town to buy b-day wrapping paper (not only can't I get good pet food in my town I can't get something as simple as wrapping paper). So what do I do? I go to the pet store and buy Molly a harness, a new squeaky toy, dog food, and some Kitty Kaviar for the cats.
I didn't stop for the wrapping paper [sm=proud.gif]
it's sick - just plain sick. So I wrapped the DH's gift up in a box with duct tape (after all duct tape is a man's thing) and my son's gift will probably get put into a gift bag left over from Christmas LMAO

Didn't they have some kind of doggie print wrapping paper at the pet store? [sm=wink3.gif]

[sm=blush.gif]  Oh yea, DH just had a  BD and it was Christmas wrap for him, too!  And duct tape has been used here on more than one present!

    Molly is a lucky girl!

I'm very guilty of this as well.  Is there a support group for it?  Like Kelly, I think BF will quickly sign me up.  Since we've gotten Lana I've bought hardly anything for myself.  All my money goes to buying Lana stuff.  I too can't go to a pet store without walking out with something.  Sometimes I go to more then one pet store in a day and I've walked out with something in each store!

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who does this! I am awful about it. I got one of those cards where they stamp it when you spend so much money when you shop there.. it took only a week and a half to fill it up and get my $10 gift certificate.. hey, that reminds me I haven't used that yet. I think I know the lay out of the pet stores more than i do the grocery stores.

Well, Marynh in intrest of helping you, I guess I could send my address to you and you could send the new toys to me and my crew.  The only reason I suggest this is for your well-being.  Really.  I think this would help your obsession.  The science of how this helps you is rather complicated, but trust me.

I'm really, really, bad.  I spend at least a $100 or so per week on stuff that she doesn't really need.

it stands to reason we all do need help LOL
anyone interested in doing a doggie swap? Since we are all supporting our local pet stores we can buy for each other.
We do a kitty swap on a kitty board I belong to.
People that participate get matched up with someone else and they swap gifts (dollar limit involved).
Dog gifts of course...sometimes a little gift tossed in for the person.

I'd be totally willling to do that, at least then I'd have a real reason to go to the pet store.

Mary, good thing I don't live too close to you or we'd be bumping into each other to the point of nausea LOLOLOL.
I am soooooo into the "buy baby Aussie another new toy" thing.
I'm with you - any excuse will do!
Lori, I must confess, I can't do what you do - probably a good thing you have a Chow.  Here, I'd be out $500 a week!!!
