Why does my dog roll on his toys?

    Hi all,
my jack russell/rat terrier mix has a habit of after he whips his toy around (the terrier break an animal's neck move) he then puts it on the ground and rolls on it.  It's kinda similar to when he wants to scratch his back, but if he wants that, he doesn't go and get a toy, he just squirms around on his back.  My westie sometimes does this with his toy or in the grass, but much more infrequently than my other dog.  Do any of your dogs do this?  Do you know why they are doing this?  Thanks very much!

    Hi Vail,
My JRT does this all the time. She has now started doing it on dead worms.YUCK
I think it has something to do with getting the scent of their prey on them. I am not certain why they like to roll on dead things but they do. She's darn lucky I love her so much[;)]

I LOVE your icon!  That is sooooooooo adorable!  I'm really glad buddy hasn't progressed to worms!  That would NOT be pleasant! You are a good mom to put up with that.
