    Marking trouble

My 10 mth old mini schnauzer has begun marking at the gate we have at our guest bedroom. He cannot go down that hallway. I caught him lifting his leg on the wall and on the gate. I scrub, clean, use every product on the market, but he won't stop. This morning did it after I went in to clean. I wonder if he does it out of resentment. This is the only off limit room in the house. Any ideas??!

Dogs don't really do things because they're resentful. We could speculate endlessly on why he's decided to mark this area but the solution is still the same. He has to be managed as though he's not fully housetrained. Don't allow him to roam freely. If you can't actively supervise, crate him.  Take him out to eliminate and reward him with a treat and praise him when he pees outside.  Be consistent with the treats and praise. Don't scold or punish if he marks indoors.

In addition, neutering is supposed to help with marking behaviors.  If he hasn't been, that might help.

Kona is completely house trained, and neutered. This just started last week.....he fully eliminates, but just gives a few drops (like in the trees and bushes when we walk or at the dog park to mark )  on the gate. I know I sounded a little crazy using the word resent, but I can't figure why? He hasn't marked anywhere else in the house.
