    Keeping dog in the backyard

our small dog keeps getting out of the yard. We keep fencing any small holes she gets out of, but she is making more. We know the reason she is getting out is to explore. We are out of ideas to keep her in the Yard. We have another dog that has no problem staying in the yard. We have lots of toys and they can go in and out of the house as they please. And are only left alone for a few hours at a time. she tends to get out more then but she does get out when we are home also. We are out of ideas. Do you have any?

You might try burying some chicken wire next to the fence.  If you google it you'll find instructions.

Boredom is often why dogs want to escape though some dogs are just wanderers at heart.  Supervision while the dog is in the yard would be good.  When no one is home, I'd leave the dog inside.

Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation may help curb your dog's desire to get out to explore.  Having toys in the yard isn't always enough.  Dogs want to interact with their humans.  Training, walks (with plenty of time for sniffing and investigation) and interactive toys can all help.
