    crate training~On the right track?

I joined this community with my crate training question in mind, but my situation seemed to improve in the time it took me to realize my membership had been excepted. lol. So initially, I was having a problem with Sadie (15 weeks) waking during the night, and still peeing in the crate after more than 3 hours. I had done all the usual suggestions, such as no water past 6p.m., divided crate, etc. It seems as over the last 2 days, things have improved! Let me know if you have advice for further improvement, or if we are at least on the right track. Her foster mom had her on pee pads in the crate while she worked, and had her sleeping with her in bed at night, so I'm guessing that's why she was wetting so much and whining so much at night. The last 2 nights Sadie went out the last time about 10p.m. and woke at about 4:30 with a dry crate! An improvement in that although a very early wakeup, there were no during the night wakes, AND the crate was dry. Can I expect natural progression from here, or is there something I can do to get another 1 hour or 2 of sleep? Thanks!

Sounds like you're on the right track.  Also if you want to sleep in in the mornings, set an alarm and take her out before she whines, put her back in the crate with a chewie and go back to sleep Wink  Because she had pee pads in her crate, she got used to peeing in it, so you're battling that. As she gets older, she'll hold it longer. But the rule of thumb is 1 hour for ever month.. So 15 weeks can hold it for almost 4 hours. Of course each puppy is different.
