Dachshund problems...

I have a two year old dachshund who has been house trained. However, lately in almost a daily occurrence he is peeing and pooping in my house, when I'm in the other room. He has his own dog door that he uses regularly with no problem. He knows how to and does go out if he wants to. What would explain him doing this all of a sudden?

Any sudden change in behavior is a red flag that a trip to the vet is in order.

With any health problems ruled out, then I'd go back to housetraining 101, and limit his freedom and ability to eliminate by keeping him leashed to you or crated when you can't pay 100% attention to him.

I agree with Glenda about the vet check and the advice to go back to housetraining 101

. Have there been any changes in your household lately that might be causing stress? Dogs often pick up on our stress and I've known dogs who start having "accidents" when this happens. Just a thought.

Is this a recent change? If so, I'd recommend a trip to the vet to rule out any problems. Let us know how it goes.
