Small Dog Nipping at Larger Dogs

• Small Dog Nipping at Larger Dogs kbs Posted : 5/22/2011 8:31:12 AM I have a 3 year old female Chihua/Pug mix.  She is the sweetest dog, almost never barks, is great with kids, and loves laps.  However, when she meets new dogs sometimes she's perfect and they sniff each other.  Sometimes she'll nip at them once, and then be fine with them.  But when we brought her to a friends house that has a boxer she kept nipping at her nose every time the boxer tried to sniff her.   For background info, our dog was raised with other dogs for her first three years, but the owner had to give her up due to downsizing, so we've had her for about 3 months now.  The boxer she met is sweet, but hyper.  What I'm wondering is how do we get her to stop nipping at the other dogs.  She played fine when she met my parents dog, a chihuahua/poodle mix, but wanted nothing to do with the boxer.
