    Scratching/pawing problem...

My dog has a problem with pawing at me and scratching at me. I can't do anything without her doing this and even if she just had her nails cut, they are still sharp and hurts when she scratches me. I can't even wear shorts or my legs would be all scratched up. I need some suggestions on how to stop her from doing this?

Welcome Michelle. She just wants your attention, when she does that, turn your back to  her, if she you are sitting down gently push her away at her chest. If  that doesn't work walk out of the room. Come back and if she does it again repeat that. The minute she stops and either sits or lays down reward her.
We like pictures and names of the puppy too.

My girl jumps on me and my BF when we are hugging. We tried ignoring, asking for sits ... all kinds of stuff. Nothing worked. Then a friend suggested I simply raise my knee towards her. It works! I don't "knee her", I just pick up my knee as she jumps and it denies her access while putting her off balance a bit. The first time I did it she was surprised and fell over, we thought it was kinda funny.

As long as u give her good attention, she is a huskey, and possibly a job then she doesn't have a reason to do that, yea it's very enoying! But I like the first reply. Also make sure when u pass her to make the extra effort and pet her or talk sweetly. If u do u kinda want to do reverse sicology, don't always ignore but really if she always want more, get her used to less. But if this is part of anxiousness (Like "I want out" or "I'm board!") than u can find a job like pulling a tire or look somthing up on the internet.

Oh what a beautiful dog she is!

Is she full Husky? She also looks like she is part white GSD as well?  If there is any GSD in her mix I could understand why she always wants to be with you since GSDs are very velcro dog.  Huskies are normally not so velco and don't seem to have this same behavior but it does varies from one individual dog to the next.  If I'm wrong about her being anything but husky I'm sorry but she does seem to have that look.

I would put her into the “down” position the second she starts to do this then maybe even give a “stay” command and walk away for a while just enough so she can see you but not be next to you.  Reward whenever you notice she is not pawing you or if you would like to try clicker training click the capture good behavior.

If you want to avoid being scratched so badly after trimming nails you could switch to a dermal to file the nails back, this will leave a smooth rounded surface and is much easier to use then dog nail clippers.
