    Separation Anxiety ?

Hello i don't know if this is the right place to post this but im having a problem. About 4 days ago we got a new akita puppy he is 4 and a half months old and 50 pounds. My problem is he follows me everywhere and wont stop crying when i put him in the kennel or go into the rest room. I'm only 16 years old and i need some space to hang out with my friends do homework and go to school. I know these dogs dont like other dogs of the same gender but is there a way i can get him and my 7 year old beagle to get along? There both males I'm not realy good at making post but thank you for reading this

How do you know they don't get along? Also, since you knew that Akitas have same sex aggression, why'd you get one? I know nothing about Akitas, but I do know puppies and him following you constantly is normal behavior.

Sounds like you need to convince your parents to hire a trainer now before they have a law suit on their hands.

Akitas as I know them are not an easy breed to own. They take a lot of discipline and understanding. Super cute as puppies but if not conditioned correctly can become dangerous as adults. I would strongly encourage puppy classes and obedience training as the puppy ages. This will take the whole family to rase this dog so find a trainer or behaviorist who is be willing to do privet lessons and include everyone in the household to attend. Rather them give advice on this situation through this forum it would be much more beneficial for your family to seek professional help with this breed.

hopefully rwbeagles comes along soon, she has experience with both breeds.

Seriously, how do you get "lawsuit" out of a puppy biting an older resident dog?  Seriously.....Hmm

OP, you have a puppy.  A big puppy, yes, but still a puppy.  Puppies bite & chew on other dogs unless they are taught not to.  The easiest way to start teaching this is to let the puppy drag a leash around so that when he starts bullying the older dog, you can remove him & redirect his attention elsewhere.  When I have a puppy who does this, I remove the pup by using the leash, & we play with a stuffed toy for a few seconds.  You just have to spend enough time to distract the puppy.  You do have to be consistent so that the toy becomes more interesting than chewing on the other dog.

To get the puppy used to the crate, I would try to make the crate a fun place to be.  I would feed him in his crate.  Put toys in the crate, & make the crate as comfortable as possible.  When I am just starting to crate train a puppy, I try to make sure that they are exhausted before I crate them.  They are far less likely to object, loudly, if they are tired & ready for a nap.  My most recent puppy ate exclusively from food dispensers, in her crate, from the moment that she came home with me.  The crate, quickly, became a fun place for her, & after she had worked for her meal, she was happy to settle down for a nap.  She still loves her crate, & is perfectly content to nap in there.

I would seek out the help of a good, positive trainer to help you with your new puppy.  I would also start using NILF (nothing in life is free) around the house.
