Pekingese attacking are other Pek only at night time and certain noises ?

I have two Pekingese's. Dempsey is 5 year old and neuter and Barney is a miniature and is not neuter. The Main problem is Dempsey, The two peks get on great all day, but in the evening everyone is sitting watching tv, the two peks will relax and sleep. But the problem is in the evening if anyone opens the door Dempsey wakes up ( or evening just sitting on his rug) and attacks Barney. Dempsey is a lot larger dog and it does be hard to separate the two. Dempsey then starts growling and rolling around growling load and puffing at everyone. You can open the door all day but this only happens at evening time or night time. I dont know what to do. I have tried to correct Dempsey but he still attacks. I have to keep Barney out of the main room in the evening. Dempsey still gets up in attack mod but because Barney isn't there he cant attack him and starts puffing and his face looks like a different dog ready for attack. He also Attacks Barney now when the bin makes a squeak noise and charges for him. Thanks for taking time out to read this.

has he had any recent blood work done - I mean a full panel? sounds a bit like seizure activity, to be honest.

he been to the vets. I thought maybe its his ears with sounds. I have brought this up with the vet and they said this is dogs. But I would like to correct his behavior. its certain sounds I think the bin triggers him off and he is all annoyed and aggressive. and the thing is he isn't a aggressive dog.

Another possibility, other than the previously mentioned seizure activity (some dogs are triggered by the flashes of light from TV's), is that he is annoyed by the noise (have his ears checked for hearing and for infection), and somehow made an association that the other dog is the cause of it.  So, when the noise goes off, he attacks the other dog to try to make it stop.

I would ask for a second opinion from another vet. The likeliness of the same time, same noises, same etc is just too coincidental for me!

Could be a deep infection too, like Anne mentioned.

Or a thyroid issue. Or joint pain.

His ears have been checked and he has been checked over and got his jabs. The vets said he is in good health. The strange thing is you can go in and out of the kitchen all day, but in the evening when the room quite and everyone is watching tv. ill open the door he will jump up and sees Barney and go for him and Barney would be asleep too. only thing I am thinking its to with the door maybe there is a squeak we don't hear, its the same with the bin . I dunno I am lost with what's up with him apart from this they get on really well.

That's why I am thinking seizure activity. It's usually linked to a specific time of day, with a specific surroundings. Dogs just don't 'do things' there's usually a reason, and with things like this - it's usually medical, not behavioral.

Just because a dog looks fine on clinical exam doesn't mean there isn't something going on.  One vet visit may not be enough - you would want to have an ongoing conversation with the vet about why you have these concerns.  If you and your regular vet cannot identify a cause, it might be useful to have a veterinary behaviorist consult.
