When Taking a Class...

My theory is that the same spot thing goes back to how we grew up in school. Remember in elementary school we had assigned seating? Then when you grow up and go to college, you still sort of practice that same behavior - sit in relatively the same spot in class.

  I'm guessing it has to do with human need to claim space/territory - even temporarily.  Respecting that claimed space goes hand-in-hand, which is why I think people would have gotten peeved by the person who upset the order of things deliberately.  Showed a lack of respect for their space/territory...  I'm guessing that's why in elementary school it's deliberately assigned - because kids are still being taught about respecting eachother and assigning the seats in an attempt to minimize the territorial fights/disrespect issues.

I dunno - Anne, you have the bachelor's degree in Psychology- what does it say to you??
