    stop nipping

One of my dogs will jump and try to nip.  It's a problem especially when I'm leaning down to do something and he'll jump up and nip at me.  He's not being aggressive, but it's not good, and I hate it.  I have grabbed his mouth and say loudly no nipping, but it doesn't seem to be working.  It's ususally when I'm trying to do something and sometimes I don't see it coming.  Funny thing is I would know what to do with a 1100 lb horse which is to yell, throw my arms up, rush the horse and make it feel like it is going to breathe it's last breath, but not my dog.  Help!??

     How old is your dog?

personally if my dog was doing that I would immediately remove myself or put the dog on time out after saying 'oops', hopefully getting the point driven that nipping causes the human/attention to go away. I used this with my puppy when she would play bite & she doesn't mouth or bite me at all now.

If its at time where you just need to get something down & lean over, I'd put him on a leash so you can control him a little better & prevent the behavior from happening in the first place. but I'd try the first one first. Might take awhile, but soon he'll realize that it doesn't get him anywhere &  will abandon the behavior.
