It's an old Hungarian breed, maybe 2000 years old. They are very fast and athletic, not good for begginer dogs. It has been declared to National treasure, not too popular breed, the wool good for nothing, doesn't have many mutton like a merino, but they are delicious (I didn't taste, but who tasted it said).

I love them, but they are a bit dangerous with that horns. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racka

Thank you the super photos!!Big Smile

About the breeds what you listed:
-Catahoula - I know them und fortunately last year on a dogshow I could see one of them  Big Smile
-Hanging Trees - this breed is new for me

    quite varied, but look's nice!
-English Shepherds - I know this breed too!

I always research for dog breed's, my favorites the shepherds, so if I find a new breed I read everything what I find of them Smile
In Hungary we have many unknown shepherd breeds, many of them look's nice, is not similar to any other dog breed, but too rarely to breed them...

The dogs in the photos aren't mine. The sheep, ducks, and the farm were!

Cord, the oldest, still going strong at nine years old:

Gus, who lost his hearing but still works every day, following sign language:

Ted, my main dog now. He's three:

Moving lambs to a new pasture:

    Holding sheep on a graze:

    Cutting off escaping ewes:

Penning sheep at a trial a few weeks ago (that's me at the pen):

Hello, I am new to the forum and raise sheep. I currently have a small flock of percentage racka sheep. I am looking for someone who has rackas in a country that I can import semen from. The US requires a certified facility draw it. If anyone knows of a place in their country and has rackas please conact me. my website is www.freewebs.com/mossyspringsranch  you can find all of my info there. Thanks for your help. By the way you all have beautiful dogs. I wish we had one so smart! It would make sorting etc so much easier. Nancy
