What does your dog's diet look like?

I was just curious to see what everyone feeds they're loved ones and why.

I used to be a 100% hardcore raw feeder. However, with the economy and the desire to get a second cat, we've decided to make some cut backs around the house. So, I'm now about a 50% raw feeder.

Harmony is allergic to chicken and can be a picky eater. She gets Canidae Beef & Fish in the morning and usually a raw turkey wing, beef liver or pork neck in the evening.

Fenton gets Natural Balance Ultra Premium in the morning. Evenings are usually a chicken quarter or beef liver.

Quinton also get NB kibble. Chicken quarter or beef liver is what he gets in the evening, as well.

Avery gets TOTW Bison & Vension, because her weight is the best on this food. Plus, it was on sale. She also gets a chicken quarter in the evening. Avery hates beef liver, but eats frozen chicken gizzards with a po'd look on her face.

I usually have a kibble topper for each dog. It's either a whole raw egg, cottage cheese or canned fish.

Maze has allergies to Chicken, wheat and grain so she gets Cal Nat. Herring and Sweet potato. As well has some canned food or yogurt as a topper. Depends on what I have in stock.

Sandy gets Cal. Nat Chicken and Rice. No toppers for her yet as I've learned her stomach can't handle them yet.

    Maze is a Lab/ BC mix who's 2 1/2 years old at 40lbs

Sandy is a 5 month old JRT who weighs 8lbs. She's a Dwarf.

Edit: I had oatmeal on the brain... Lol.

Cheyanne eats TOTW and any scraps I have left over. She doesnt have any food or health issues so I can feed her anything. She's a Dalmation Lab Chow mix who will be 8 years old in April and weighs around 50lbs now that I got her weight down.

Lillie eats a chicken quarter and a cup of TOTW in the morning. For supper she just gets TOTW with cottage cheese or yogurt, canned food, and fish oil. Lillie is a 2 year old Irish Setter who weighs 56lbs.

Kujo eats TOTW and whatever food my daughter sneaks her. She is a 1 year old Chihuahua that weighs 2.9lbs.

Joker eats a chicken quarter in the morning and  Natural Balance Sweet Potatoe and Vension formula with cottage cheese or yogurt and fish for supper. Just started the NB because I was noticing his ears were getting red and bumpy. Seems to been the TOTW that was doing it because now his ears are normal. Joker is a 7 month old Vizsla who weighs 45lbs.

Fynn gets what Lillie gets minus the canned food. Fynn is a 9 month old Irish Setter that weighs 60lbs.

moca eats purina pro plan salmon and rice. after many issues of soft poops and LOTS of poops and skin problems, this is the first food that works well with her.

jason eats the same. he does well on pretty much any food, so feeding him whatever moca eats is just more convenient...

they both get a fish oil supplement once a day and often get toppers of yoghurt or raw egg. if i boil eggs for myself i will also add a few extra for the dogs to eat as "toppers"

I tried TOTW and Chicken Soup Four The Puppy Lover with my pups and both gave them VERY loose stools and Bella had an upset tummy with both. Financially I was so strapped I just couldnt afford to keep trying things out and also couldnt afford the food even if I found one that worked. So I tried Purina Puppy Chow and Immediately their poops firmed and no more upset tummies. So I feed this to them now and top it with a raw egg, cottage cheese or yogurt in the mornings.

It looks like people food.  It consists of canned salmon or chicken quarters, oatmeal or brown rice, and pumpkin or peas and carrots.  It's balanced with supplements and includes ginger and turmeric for inflammation, and arabinogalactan powder for immune support, prebiotics and fiber. It sometimes include probiotics.  And it makes them drool.  :)

I'm hoping to transition the kitties to homecooked this year as well.

Jetta eats TOTW (all formulas) with baby food meat/veggies as a topper. If I don't use baby food, then she gets a little bit of whatever we are having for dinner as a topper.

after the recall mess we don't feed anything, treats included, that we don't make ourselves from human-grade, fresh, preferably locally raised foods. We used to feed grain-free kibble supplemented with raw and home-cooked; now it's home-cooked doggy stew in the morning and raw at night. I think it might be cheaper than feeding kibble because with the yucca root/ fish stew we've been feeding in the morning we've been able to cut way back on the joint supplements without seeing any creakiness in the older pups. Joint supplements are expensive for big dogs.

I feed raw via mOrigins, HPP (Beef and Chicken), and Hare Today (green tripe, beef gullet). mOrigins is 3.24/lb and I order 75 lbs for 3 months. Hpp is a dollar cheaper per pound. They also get marrow/soup bones. Treats are all prepared by me unless Xmas comes along which is beef heart, cow liver, mackerel jackpot treats, chicken breast. Their xmas treats are tried lamb and duck/sweet potato. Since deer season is over, usually heart and liver too.

Now on the 23rd, we were working out in the corn field and they caught scent of a family of rabbits, I let them loose and they dig got all 6 rabbits doing the "grab and shake" breaking their necks. I am going to feed them the rabbits tomorrow.

Currently, I am feeding Merrick dry in the evening alternated with raw some evenings.  They get some wet in the morning.  Usually, Wellness, Innova, Merrick, or Tripe.  I add fish oil on occasion as well.

Prancer - 12 lb poodle mix.

1/3 kibble (rotato brands and recipes - right now on Core reduced fat), 1/3 canned (rotated between Wellness recipes - lamb, turkey, duck, fish), 1/3 fresh (cooked meats: beef heart, chicken tenders, chicken thighs, ground turkey, ckn gizzards, raw ckn hearts, various fish, poached egg;  1 tbs of pureed raw veggies a day).     Supplements:   Daily:  Vit C, Glycoflex (joint supp), Raspberry extract.  2x a week Vit E, 3x a week Wild Salmon Oil

My vet prefers a diet of premade raw supplemented with various cooked veggies.    She does not feel that 'grocery store raw meat' is a good idea - combination of getting the right balance and bacteria risks.  I don't know if I agree with her there.  I lightly cook the meats because I don't like handling raw meat but they're still pretty much raw on the inside.

     Tootsie- 23lb. Pembroke Welsh Corgi

A.M. - 1/2 cup of Eagle Pack Holistic Anchovy w/ 1 pump Grizzly Salmon Oil and a Vitamin E capsule (100 iu)

P.M.- 1/3 cup of  the EP w/ some kind of topper ( yogurt, beets, peas, sardines etc...)

I wanted to ask a question but if it needs to be another thread, so be it. Just how necessary are joint supps, especially as, at least in kibble, they are not in therapeutic doses and the AAFCO does not guarantee their usefulness because, well, they haven't exactly been proven in humans, yet, either? And, if one is feeding raw meaty bones that have some cartilege, would that do in place of joint supps?

As to the topic, I feed Shadow Eagle Pack Lamb Meal and Rice with Oatmeal and Jade gets the Anchovy formula for cats. Shadow's coat is outstanding and I'm glad I switched when I did because I could watch his winter coat grow in and see the results.
