Good food? not homemade....

Please give Orijen a try, it's a great product. I've switched all my friends to Orijen and I've heard nothing but raves and some of them were already feeding high end stuff including EVO and Core. If I ever go back to kibble, it will no doubt be Orijen 6 Fresh Fish!

You will eventually find what works best for your dog.

I'm currently feeding Innova EVO Red Meat. It's another one of the grainless options, and i've had amazing success with it. She eats less than other foods i've had her on, she poops 1x per day, and her poop is TINY. She's a 55 lb dog, and the poop looks like it came out of a 15 lb dog. Always firm & never difficult to pick up. She has no gas, and her coat is incredibly soft & healthy.

Another thing is that she absolutely loves this food. I tried to give her Orijen (both chicken & fish), but she won't eat it unless she's starved. She's been eating EVO for about 2 months now and every time i give her something different to try, she always prefers the EVO.

If you're financially capable of feeding a grainless food, it would be my suggestion to try  Innova EVO (they have red meat & poultry versions) and Orijen (which has poultry & fish versions).

Core is another nice grain free.  It offers several choices - regular (poultry), reduced fat, fish.

Homemade isn't hard at all. For me it's a labor of love, although it's only 5 five minutes. My food preparation is as follows; get food bowl, add 1/2 cup of dehydrated food, 1/2 lbs. of ground beef, chicken or turkey, 1 whole egg with shell and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well, wait 8-10 minutes for hydration and serve. Healthy, delicious and easy.

Right now I feed Blue Buffalo.    We have tried many foods and this one is giving us the best results, by far.  My dogs have a ton of energy and they don't have the doggy smell at all.   Their poo is fine on it, I think not overfeeding is key.   I like that BB is easily available at major Petsmart and Petco, it just makes it easier for me since most smaller dog food stores are only open until 3 or 4 and I can never make it on time.

Another one we've had success with is Taste of the Wild.  Grainfree is wonderful, I just couldn't afford it for two dogs.

Congrats on getting a catahoula mix!  I have a catahoula mix and he has been a fantastic dog.  Mosby gets Taste of the Wild and does really well on it.  I'm a big fan of the grain-free options out there :)
