food for siezure prone dog?

Ok - so I finally found the food store that gives discounts to shelter employees - and it's not too far from my house!

I picked up a small trial size bag of Orijen puppy - both I and the owner feel it will be best for this pup.

We also discussed putting Casey on it as well, but I'm going to stick with BB for a while on him - I just got him another bag, plus - he does really well on it.

If little pup does well - I'll go back and get a bigger bag, we didn't want to get too much, just in case.

I've read all good things about Orijen, so hopefully this will be a good route for us!

Thanks for starting this thread.  I have learned some good information from everyone and might make some changes in Prudence's diet,

Hi there.   There's a Natural Pet store on the corner of Rt 580 (Main Street) and Keene in Dunedin (in the Winn Dixie shopping center).    There's also "My Pet's Dream) off of Enterprise and US19 in the Red Lobster strip mall.   Both sell a nice variety of holistic type foods.

Man, Erica I wish you could get her to Dr. Rimar (she's in Tarpon Springs and is who helped JoAnn with Prancer).  She's one of Dr. Xie's vets from U of Florida at Gainesville -- acupuncture would help this little gal so much.  She'd also give you good food advice.  There are herbs (Kee is on a couple of them) that truly help prevent seizing.  Kee's obsessive/seizure stuff has gone to almost NONE.  Incredible diffference in her.

Dunno if she'd help you with this little gal -- you could call and ask her (and you're welcome to use me as a reference -- she'd remember Billy - she worked on him many times!)

Not only foods but cleaners can also be a problem -- is there extra cleaning that goes on at the kennel on weekends??

No, there's cleaning is the same every day. She was inside, in a crate with her brother, but we weren't able to save him and he ended up passing away about a week ago over night. Both her and her brother were surrendered for neurological issues and siezures. It's coming up on my having her a week, and so far - no siezures! I've got her on the grain free food, and pheno. Hopefully this is something she will grow out of as her brain developes.

JoAnne - I went to My Pet's Dream - up on Enterprise. The woman who owns it offers discounts to shelter employees - she's really great and I really enjoyed talking to her. Only downside is she is in a horrible location - I hope it doesn't affect her business! Another coworker of mine suggested trying Fluffy Puppies down on Ft. Harrison. I'm going to stick with My Pets Dream and hope for the best! She has all sorts of good food there.
