Food Advice Please...

I have my 9-10mnth old 53# puppy on Innova Large breed puppy food right now...he's doing good. I like it because it has less calories per cup of food versus the adult Innova, so he can actually eat more without getting too many nutrients, which in turn can cause them to grow faster.

Really?  I thought all the Blue foods were at or above 500 kcals per cup??  Innova is 550 and change, and Canidae as I recall is 450 and change.

I don't typically feed the chicken though, so am not totally certain.  My guys usually get either the lamb or fish.

I'm just being nitpicky, it's silly, but..

    Canidae 475 calories per cup

    Blue Buff chicken 460 cals/cup

    And yeah, Innova is 557

Oh, and you're right about the other BB formulas.. Lamb has 505, and fish has 490.

BUT like I said, it has way fewer calories per kg. BB has 3400-3700 calories per kg, and both Innova and Canidae have just under 4200. This means if the three foods cost exactly the same amount per pound (which, IME, isn't so.. usually Blue costs a bit more than Innova which costs a bit more than Canidae), it would cost you more to feed Blue than either of the others.

Well.  Son of a gun.  Just went and checked on the bag of lamb and the one of fish that I've got, and I was wrong.  No idea on the chicken but I'm glad I hadn't bought that.  Shoot tho, the FISH is $5 more per bag and I'll have to feed a good deal more.  Crap.

So, ok, on INNOVA, feed a little less.

Thanks for pointing that out, Chelsea.  I stand (actually SIT) corrected.
