    POLL: Premium Dry Kibble Survey

****posted on behalf of member: POMERANIAN <3****

DISCLAIMER: I understand there are many wonderful dry dog kibbles out on the market but based on "frequent discussion" & "popularity" the previous brand names of kibble were chosen. This is merely a survey of interest, thank you to those who participate :o)

Which kibble do you feed in your home?

Which dry dog kibble do you feed in your home? Please select from the following brand names. If your brand name is not listed please select "Other" and feel free to talk about what you serve & why. For those that don't feed dry kibble select Raw or Other. If you feed multiple brand named kibble from this list then please pick the one you purchase the "most" of (i.e. a Great Dane eats more than a Chihuahua) or the one you choose to support the most (i.e. brand loyalty).

EP used to be my goto food, but it's hard to find down here, so it's only in the rotation every few months.

Natura products are my goto foods now: Evo RM and CA Natural mainly.

    • Puppy

mine get burns kibble - chicken & brown rice.

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm surprised that Innova isn't listed as a choice.  And my vote is a bit misleading because while they eat kibble for breakfast, they get homecooked or raw for dinner.

    • Bronze

Since last year's recalls, I stick with Natura products.  Usually California Natural or Innova.

JMHO, but it ain't gonna be much of a poll w/o the Natura products listed.  I suspect "Other" will be getting lots of votes!

Honey gets Purina One weight management, KayCee gets Taste of The Wild High Prairie.  However, both also get home cooked, about 1/3 of the food is home cooked.

I rotate foods and usually use Natura products so I chose "Other".
    • Bronze

I chose "other" as I am another fan of Natura brands: Evo and California Natural.

    • Gold Top Dog

I chose "other" as Falon & Wolfie eat a 50/50 mixture of Nature's Variety Instinct (Duck & Turkey) and Pro Plan Selects Salmon & Brown rice.

    I currently feed:

Canidae, Taste of the Wild and raw.

I am currently feeding Canidae, just off several rotations of Nature's Variety Prairie.  I supplement with raw eggs, canned sardine, and low fat cottage cheese.  I'm also considering trying Natural Balance for the rotation.

Innova EVO and Solid Gold Barking at the Moon are out.  Both gave Kenya the runs and made her go from lean to just plain skinny.

I chose other, because the company I supported the most, up until just recently, was Naturapet; i..e Innova, Evo, and California Natural Puppy were the foods I rotated between for quite some time.

However, our newly addition is quite intolerant to Chicken and didn't do well on Cal Natural Lamb/rice...so that rules out using Naturapet products at this time.

We are now coming off from a 15# bag of TOTW - Salmon, and moving onto Primal Pheasant raw and Nature's Variety Instinct....so far so good.

We also do a lot of homecooked meals...but, in regards to a company I feel I've supported financially for quite a number of years, that's Naturapet. They are the only company I trusted for a long time, and most of the time I still feel insecure for NOT feeding their foods, but don't quite have a choice in the matter.

Natura has a few products that don't contain lamb, chicken or rice.  California Natural has a herring/sweet potato kibble (my dogs did great on it, although I didn't care much for the fishy smell) and a salmon/sweet potato canned formula.  EVO has canned varieties of beef, duck, venison and rabbit.

Yeah, after I typed I had suddenly remembered that.

I might try the dry Cal Natural as part of a rotation, just seems like it has too many carb's for my taste.

The canned stuff is excellent, but can get $$$ when you're feeding a growing large breed puppy; when I just had the little dogs I was still spending on average $100 or so on canned foods, but they would last 2-3 mnths as it was only a partial amount of the diet.

Royal Canin all the way, now.  The dogs enjoy eating it,, poop is good and coats are shiny and soft.
