Royal Canin..........what do you think??

I really don't think anything will come of it, because although he would always tell me that I looked nice whenever I took Sophie in to see him, he will not ask me out.  I was thinking of telling him that I wanted to take him out to eat to repay him for all the free advice he has given me over the phone, but I do not have the guts to do it.  And he is either too shy or too busy.

Tell him tell him tell him!! ;) If he's telling you that you look nice and calling you at home I think he is definitely interested. I'm sure he loves Sophie too, but come on. lol My husband practically worships the ground I walk on and thinks I'm the absolute best person for him, but he would NOT have asked me out. He thought I was "out of his league", which I think is crazy. But it never even crossed his mind that I would consider going out with him. It's scary to think how close we came to never being together. But I had a good feeling that he liked me so I just came right out and told him that I would be interested in dating him. Then I let him take it from there. I think offering to take your guy friend/vet out to dinner would be perfect. It's casual enough, but still gives him a little hint that you're interested. It really seems like a lot of guys these days are so used to being stomped on by women that they're petrified of being rejected. He may be too shy to make the first move, but he could be one heck of a catch!! I think life is short and you should seize the day. There's always the chance that things might not go well, but you'll never know unless you try.

Oops, almost forgot to answer your question about dichotomous earth. It seems like a really good alternative to chemical pesticides. The one thing I know is that you have to be really careful not to inhale it. Other than that I don't know anyone who's actually used it, so I guess I'm not a big help on that one. You could start a whole new topic about it and I bet you'd get a lot of good input.

I have been thinking of trying Fromm again. The store down my street sells it. I did buy a small bag last yr, they loved it, then I switched to TO. The kibble size is nice and small for toy breeds too, and small puppies. Only thing, I think they have their canned foods made in China, so I would stay away from the canned product.  My two Pugs that have been on Ocean Blue have the nicest coats, but both smell like cat urine now!

I think Fromm is awesome. You've probably seen how many kibbles I've switched around between, so for me to be impressed enough to stick with this one food is SOMETHING. lol On another forum someone mentioned just yesterday that their dog smelled like fish from eating Orijen Fish. And not the dog's breath either- it's body was giving off a fishy smell.

Interestingly, I have heard this same complaint from users of other fish-based kibble as well---hmm.....

You are so funny Luvntzus!  What about all us women who have been stomped on by men and don't want to take a chance of getting stomped on again??  I don't think he is the stomping type, he seems really gentle, but you never know...And what if he rejects me and says he is too busy or something, and then never calls again?  Then I have lost my personal vet!

I have a call into him now, about Sophie's eyes.

Okay, Luvntzus, I did it!!  He called me back and he was way up the road at a mall, in a book store, because he had gone up there to do a house call for a guy who has horses.  And he was bummed because he had to put an old dog to sleep this morning.  He said he would have to look at Sophie, and in the meantime to keep using the topical stuff on her eyes.  He said sometimes they have eyelashes that are bothering their tear ducts.  I never even asked him about her food.  I was nervous, my heart was pounding and I said, I want to take you out to dinner for all this free advice you are giving me.  And he said, that's funny because I have been wanting to take you out to dinner!!!   Party!!!  Then we both starting laughing!  I don't know why.  Probably nerves!  Then I hung up on him, (by accident), and he called me back and  we got to talking about books and I recommended one and he found it and I guess he was trying to pay for it, so he asked if he could call me back later.......Big Smile

You were right!!  He likes me AND Sophie!!   I'm so excited!!  Thanks for talking me into asking him!

YAY! Congratulations, I'm so excited for you!!! That's true that women have been stomped on a lot too. I know I went through A LOT of jerks before I finally met my husband. This vet sounds really genuinely nice. You'll have to keep me updated about how your date goes!!

If there ever is a date.  Tamara, he never actually asked me out.  After I hung up on him, he probably thought I was completely crazy and changed his mind!!

I might buy a small bag this week. My fishy smelling dogs have normal breath, you can smell it in their coat, yuck!

I don't believe that there is a LAW requiring a health cert for a pup.  And, they often aren't worth the paper they are written on.  I was going to send two pups with my son through Canada.....one was going home with him to upstate NY and his sister was going to a forum member in NH.  Both saw the vet the same day, both got the health certs.  At the last minute, my sons finance changed her mind about letting DS have a pup (these were a foster liter) so Mr. Ears didn't go.  He died less than 2 weeks later of what was likely a heart condition that went undetected.  This was an outstanding vet, but sometimes things don't get caught in the exam they do for the health certs.

OMG! I'm just reading this now & had to mention that I went through a remarkably similar experience this summer! The Beagle pup I previously mentioned on this thread, the one who'd been fed Royal Canin but had goopy eyes/dingy coat, she was from a breeder in Manttoba, Canada. Came shipped to me with a falsified health certificate  Super Angry It was not the cert with her tattoo # on it, rather that of her littermate sister, who, BTW, was the pup I reserved from them. So I recieved a switched pup as well. We found out a week later that she has a Grade 3 heart murmur, which is "loud as a washing machine" Angry Super Angry Crying  I felt it with my bare hands, but yet, this pup got through customs with a worthless health cert.
I don't sell my pups with a health cert, and you're correct, its not required that a breeder issue one for a pup unless they're being shipped. You're better off getting a good written health guarantee so you have recourse if the pup gets sick.
