Going raw...

Michele - I guess you didn't notice my post count, but I've been around this forum a verryyyy long time and have great respect for the other longtimers on the site.  I've rarely seen these folks mock raw feeders but you seem to be doing just that to non-raw feeders.  What I have seen is a fairly unbiased attitude to consider each person's situation.  My dogs aren't puppies.  One is 7 and one is almost 11.  The 11 yr old is in great health and has had no health issues.  The other has allergies, mostly environmental, but we also know she has food allergies to chicken, turkey and beef.  I did do a homecooked diet for her using pork, and it was about 2x the cost and it showed no difference in her allergies than when I feed her duck & potato kibble.  If I'd noticed a difference, even a small one, I would've continued with homecooked or raw.

This is a great forum and I think everyone, even people who think they know a LOT, can learn something.  I'd just tone down your enthusiasm and stay away from the snide comments about kibble feeders.  Your implications are that we are either ignorant or cheap because we feed kibble, and I assure you, that is not always true.

Some people should just do their homework.

Some people need to ^$^#&*@^$^ $^#&@^$&#

Now excuse me while I go get my dogs food off of the kibble tree in my back yard....

at 13 pounds, with a medium activty level it would be 13 * 2.5% - which comes out to about 5.2 ounces per day.  Smaller dogs tend to burn more calories.

I believe the original post was about raw.  Do some homework. Knowledge is power.

There is no need for that, IMHO.  Just because someone is a zealous raw feeder does not mean others need to take the bait.  Personal insults get nobody anywhere.

whtsthfrequency...thanks!  I didn't mean for this to be a debate.  I know everyone has their own opinions on what's best for their furkids.  I just TRY to do what I feel is best for mine...as I'm sure everyone on this forum tries to do what is best for their own dogs.

Is that ridiculous myth about eating sugar causing diabetes still running around loose?  My mother used that one on us kids way back in the days of the dinosaurs....and still gave us dessert every nite.
