It's what our brains operate on.

Not to be a pest, but in people the brain is an obligate glucose consumer.  There are alterations with hypoglycemia, but the brain actually operates on glucose not fat.  There was a nice article in nature awhile back about what the atkins diet does to cerebral metabolism since you limit your carbs.  You can go to pubmed, or if you can't stomach the basic science just glucose brain and obligate glucose or brain and metabolism.  This is also why hypoglycemia is especially dangerous because it causes significant cerebral damage if left uncorrected.

One more question: How often is it Ok to give the Yogurt Treats to the dogs (i.e. my dogs fell in love with yogurt mixed with mashed bananna frozen in their Kongs).

Not pesty at all[:D] I misspoke.

How about.... Good fats are essential for optimal brain function, and all of these low fat and fat free foods are screwing us up[;)] I am very pro-EFAs and healthy fats. I routinely eat whole meals of things like avocadoes and nuts. I feed the dogs significant amounts of fat, as well. They like to have a big, fat marrow bone for lunch, most days. I add a good tablespoonful of fat to Emma's food, and a teaspoon and a half to Teenie's, daily. None of us are overweight, at all. We're at good weights, and I've noticed, since I started paying attention to my fat intake, that I think more clearly (I have  ADD and have tried all sorts of things to stay off of medication). It's a very important nurtient.

PomMommy, they can have yogurt every day, if they tolerate and like it.

:) Well said.  I agree that the fat free foods are a huge problem, low fat intake in the first two years of a child's life has been correlated with decrease brain development and some have shown decreased IQ.  I cringe when I see little kids eating low fat anything.
