Help me think of foods?

I don't know that he's allergic to sunflower oil, or chicken for that matter, but he hasn't had a skin infection since eliminating those ingredients and I don't want to risk it. I took out sunflower oil after seeing it was a very common problem on the pittie boards.

The Go Natural looks ok, if they've removed the menadione.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I got a rx for Royal Canin Skin Support once. I got the rx at the vet and took it to Banfield at Petsmart, they entered it into their system so I could buy from them, but I never bought the food. It was a lot cheaper to just elminate chicken and sunflower oil, and since it worked, I never went back.

My dog is a freak of nature, though.

I'm going to tell her you said that.[;)]  The dermatologist Jessie goes to is at a vet teaching hospital (Purdue) and sees a lot of animals with allergies so I have a lot if respect for her opinion.

In your OP, you mentioned avoiding with fruits and vegetables.  It is so common these days to find fruits and veggies in many foods today, they may have been the common denominator with some prior issues, not the chicken and sunflower oil.  I think one has exercise some caution when eliminating, you don't want to eliminate the best ingredients especially if your not sure.  Pure sunflower oil (the real stuff) is probably the best oil out there and chicken is a staple ingredient in many brands.  You really narrow your playing field a lot when avoiding chicken.

Next time you have chicken for dinner, cut off some bite size pieces (cooked at first) about the size of a quarter and give your dog a few pieces.  See how it goes in a few hours.  I'm sure your dog will be fine and probably looking for more!

Canine Caviar..maybe..I think they may use chicken fat. They have a Lamb and pearl millet formula. Very simple with herbs added as an aid in digestion.

Thanks for the tip Charlie but the skin infections and his problems with a sensitive system are separate issues. One seems to be caused by certain ingredients, the other by too many ingredients in the food. I've eliminated both at different times to narrow it down.

tzu_mom, that food looks very similar to the food he was on that was recalled - and there is a store in my area on their store locator!! Hopefully they carry, or can get, that formula. Thanks for the tip!!
