Are you still going to feed Natural Balance?

Either on a k9 nutrition list or the kidney list, there has been a discussion lately with someone's IBS dog. Some people have reported tremendous sucess with Seacure and also with L-Glutimine. Personally, I've had a stomachache for several months now and I started using the l-Glutimine and slippery elm and it has helped my stomach.

I always add slippery Elm to Max's food. Im sure you already know there is a difference between IBS and IBD. Iv done alot of research on this subject and they are different. I know Max is IBD but I think Louie is a classic IBS dog. And I think he has alot of stomach aches so this is good information to know.

One of the mods on the k9nutrition board corrected someone the other day about their being a difference -- but honestly, I couldn't remember enough to tell someone else.  To me, it's all bad.

Kinda like whether a dog has "food sensitivity" or "food allergy".  Right now, in my learning mode, I've got too much trying to comphrehend to keep all the definitions straight.  So, no, I don't remember the difference - just know that they are technically different.

But, boy, why'd you have to be stuck with two dogs with these types of problems?.  And the girl I was corresponding with said IBS, but might have been the other.  Don't know.

I sure hope it helps.  The dogs need a break as much as you do..........

I'm sticking with the NB Ultra Premium for now. I was feeding Nutro and part of what prompted me to switch was the beginning of this whole thing. So I switched to NB and seriously that very same week the NB recall happened. And then Blue Buffalo, and Wellness if I'm not mistaken. What's left? I feel like even if I switched to another brand what would keep the same thing from happening?

My goal for this year is still to begin home prepared (maybe raw, maybe not, haven't decided). But like everyone pointed out, I've got twos strikes in that department: Large dogs, and more than one. And I'm also personally pretty finicky about the meat I'll buy if I buy actual meat (I only do for the dogs since I'm a vegetarian). I know it's a complete ethical trick I'm playing on myself because it's not like NB sources only humanely raised organic meats, but if I did home prepared, that's what I'd be buying.
