Nutro dry food - potential investigation

    • Gold Top Dog
Nutro Max makes my dogs throw up yellow bile randomly.  Natural choice does not.

The FDA also is looking into a small number of reports that pets have
died after consuming food that was not included among the recalled
products, said Devin Koontz, the administration's spokesman.

We're trying to figure it out," Koontz said.

He emphasized that the number of reports concerning dry food consumed
by pets that became sick was not alarming.

That link just took me to the wrong page .. opps sorry it should work now

Is it just the Nutro Max that they are suspecting? Shadow, and Muffin eat Nutro Natural Choice, and Muffin has always thrown up randomly yellow bile since she has been on it which is her whole life.

Other then that the dogs are acting fine. Raja and Lacey are on CS. But the others are my moms dogs and so far they haven't been sick

I am still feeding Nutro Large Breed Adult Lamb Meal and Rice and we're still doing fine. Of course, his food has no wheat in it. One meat source, one grain.

Our dogs eat the Nutro Natural Choice as well.  They have vomited yellow bile randomly before and I thought it might be a worm or bug of some kind that was not caught by their Interceptor.  So I had the vet give me a dewormer for them last year and they all ceased to vomit for some time.  Pepper has begun to do so again, as has Shadow.  The other two have not.

I'm pretty sure Nutro manufactures their own kibble

All of Nutro's dry kibble in a bag, biscuits, and baked treats are made exclusively by Nutro at the original plant in California and their other plant in Tennessee.

I stopped feeding Nutro Natural Choice years ago because my dogs always vomited bile during the early morning hours while eating it (they've never done that on any other food).
    • Gold Top Dog
I have one dog on dry Natural Choice. He was 30 lbs through a 40 lb bag when the recall was announced and now it's almost gone. No problems.

Also, it's important to note that vomiting bile is very common in dogs that haven't eaten in awhile.  I guess I'm not understanding why people are connecting vomiting bile with the food having a problem.  I could see if the dog was actually vomiting food, well that's another thing, but bile?

That is true. My mom actually thinks it was NOT the Nutro that made Muffin vomit bile but the fact that whenever she did vomit she had always not eaten for a while.

For instance, Muffin would womit at around 12pm on...say.. a tuesday. But she hadn't ate breakfast yet because she was not hungry so the last time she ate was around 6 on Monday...

I was feeding nutro max and my dog is vomiting! And they got recalls... even the cat food! I thought it's natrual and great for them! But boy I'm wrong! [&o] I geuss even science diet has something too? But I'd say we all should throw them out of buissness! They are just putting different wrappers (some expensive but it's all th same!!) form canada on junk they throw together and call dog FOOD. Let's go w/ pedigree u can get anywhere or something made in the united states and one that has comertails!! I also still believe that pedigree one is the Same as normal pedigree and they are just getting more money![:o] I can't beliave this I think they are trying to acually go for killing the WHOLE dog population!

Yes, but people love to crap on Nutro. So, right now, it's a free-for-all, thanks to the supposed email of another member on another board, 2nd or 3rd hand.

I should start a thread for those of us who have had problems with Innova.

    • Gold Top Dog
Ron, I would thank you NOT to....I'm having enough trouble keeping up with the existing threads!

Jilly, this thread is about Nutro.  Please dont post your list and rants that are not related to Nutro.

I agree. I could easily blame the fact that Cherokee used to vomit bile daily on the Science Diet I fed her. And actually it WAS the Science Diet, but not because anything was wrong with it, but because she wouldn't EAT it.
