If I feed too much, does she absorb it?

Oatmeal has made her itchy, with gooky ears, in the past. I haven't tried it lately, though. Is rice good? White or brown, if I try rice (which I know she does ok with, and I might be feeling chicken)? Should I try some of the weirder grains, like millet or quinoa?

Would I do grain instead of potatoes or in addition to the regular food? Is that as silly a question as it sounds? LOL I'm assuming I'd just add grain into the mix, and feed the normal amount.

IKate, The canned beaver is a FANTASTIC idea. I'd forgotten about that! Thanks!

OK, that makes me feel like less of an idiot for pointing it out.  LOL!  [:D]

Millet and rice are less likely to cause an allergic reaction since they're low in gluten, and I thought you wanted to avoid gluten. Have you tried Tripett;  [linkhttp://waggintails.com/store/Search.php?sstring=tripett&cat=evolve+&x=40&y=7]http://waggintails.com/store/Search.php?sstring=tripett&cat=evolve+&x=40&y=7[/link]    It's supposed to have digestive enzymes and amino acids from the cow's stomach and should be very easy to digest; I feed it to Jessie as an immune booster.

yeah, some over-cooked white rice might do the trick if she can't handle oats. Over-cooked white rice is easily digested by most dogs, and basically adds simple carbs (i.e. empty calories) to the dog's diet.

I have a case of Tripett waiting for me at the health food store. They love it, and I know it's good for them, but I haven't seen any amazing results from it. I just feed a meal every week of tripe. I use the New Zealand Lamb, because they're free range, and the cattle are grain fed.

I'm going to energy test some organic oats, and if she can have those, I'll use them. If not, I'll try some overcooked, white rice. Yuck.
