Poop. Yeah, that's right.

    Poop. Yeah, that's right.

    ugh.

Anyway, I did NOT obviously copy and paste that properly.

I recently put Ella back on T.O. Ocean Blue. Her poop piles are GIGANTIC.
And the gas is HORRIBLE. The only way to get away from the gas is to give her yogurt.
She gets a raw meal in the morning and some kibble at night.
How long should I have to feed her plain yogurt?

I, for once, would like to feed a grain-free kibble that does NOT cause horse piles.

    That stinks!!

And you're sure it's not an issue of too much kibble?  Of course every dog is different but mine very rarely has gas.  We just went through our first 16 lb bag of Ocean Blue.  I'm now on a bag of Canine Caviar Venison and Split Pea.  No gas with it either.  I'm still working on a bag of NV Raw Instinct also.  No gas but poop not firm half the time.

Apparently Ella just doesn't digest it well despite it being grain free.

Well, I put her back on kibble so that my SO could feed her when I couldn't. I was sick last week and it was a pain to have to prepare her raw meals. Also, with feeding her straight raw all the time, she was actually losing weight without an increased activity level.
I mean, it was only 3 lbs. but she didn't really need to lose weight.
    • Gold Top Dog
Oh, and we've gone the raw instinct route. Poops were even worse on that. They were runny and stinky beyond belief.

I MIGHT try evo on her, but I'm not sure.

Maybe one of the "higher octane" grain free kibbles would work better for Ella.

NV Raw Instict, Canine Caviar Venison and Split Pea, TWO Wild & Natural, Solid Gold Barking At The Moon,  Innova Evo or Evo RM.  They've all got higher protein and fat levels than Ocean Blue.
    • Gold Top Dog
    Oh! D'oh!
    Thank you for posting that.
I couldn't for the life of me think of all the higher protein, grain-free foods.

She react VERY similarly to T.O.'s Wild and Natural.

How much are you feeding daily with the Canine Caviar? And how big is your dog?

I take it wheat grass is NOT the same thing as wheat.

Ella cannot have wheat. NOT after what we went through with her skin after those homemade liver treats with wheat.

Keep in mind I only got the Canine Caviar last week.  My dog is a little over 50 pounds.  She's not a big Shepherd (23" at the withers).  I feed her 1 cup in the morning, 1/4 cup pre-walk (late afternoon), and 1 cup after.  She'll sometimes get a small amount of table scraps on top of that depending on what is left over.

My dog is 18 months old and has a bad hip.  It is not a constant but her right leg does pop out of the socket in cold weather when she plays too strenously.  I have to keep her lean.

My tzu has a problem with grains (esp. wheat), but has no problem with sprouts or with wheat grass----here's an exerpt  from [linkhttp://www.wheatgrass.com/faq/]http://www.wheatgrass.com/faq/[/link]:

If I#%92m allergic to wheat, can I still eat PINES Wheat Grass?
    Almost certainly, yes.
Wheat allergies are usually a reaction to the gluten found in the wheat berry. Wheat grass is a vegetable, cut before the wheat plant forms the grain (berry). PINES Wheat Grass has no gluten.
In fact, since PINES Wheat Grass offers so many nutrients (and a body needs all the help it can get to combat allergens) and is grown without herbicides or pesticides, it would likely be an excellent addition to the diet of someone with allergies.
It's always recommended that you check with your doctor/allergist or nutritional consultant before adding anything new to your diet, including PINES Wheat Grass

I consulted with my holistic vet, and she gave me the go-ahead--so far, no problems.

    Wait.
That wysong stuff is VERY expensive.

Is there anywhere cheaper I can get it?

It would cost me over $13 PER MEAL to feed her. I'd be spending over $26 a day with feeding that.
