Best Allergy Food--Need Opinions

But, I also wonder then why blood testing works for environmental allergies, but not for food allergies. Darn, I would NOT have made a good scientist! I hope they come up with a reliable test soon. Even for me, who is being as compliant as possible, this thing is getting old at 5 months now, with more to go.

According to the article I discussed in detail earlier, blood testing for food allergies is becoming more reliable because there's been more standardized antigens available along with improvements in the testing procedures. Maybe Misskiwi can explain why the antigens stay in the skin even though the IgE levels in the blood go down after several months. I'm glad that she's gaining weight again.

I keep hearing people say that the blood serum tests are inaccurate. My dog Dodger had diarrhea so bad so often..and huge itchy spots that were blood red for years.the vet could not figure out what was wrong and so I put it down to food allergies. I had him do the allergy test for food and I got back that he was allergic to brewers yeast, wheat, and barley. I have taken those things out of his diet and have not had a problem since. That was almost 3 years ago.

Well,  I guess you got really lucky on the test.  I'm so glad that he's better now. [:)]

I did have the test, and it was inaccurate.  Maybe a different test, different lab.  But, they should be standarized so that it doesn't matter what lab processes it.  But, you are the first that I've read to say that it was helpful.  Glad of it for Dodgers sake.

I'm not sure actually?? Maybe because IgE attached to mast cells has a longer half life?
