Sorry for the confusion John and thanks for replying.
Having checked Nutro's website recently, I noticed they have sold to a management firm. As long as this doesn't affect the formulas or quality control I'll be okay with it. But, many times, we can't help when a company restructures or whatever it does for its economic survival. And, in the final analysis, I often agree with others in that I prefer better quality foods. I know dogs can be scavengers, eating things we'd barely touch long enough to throw away. That doesn't make it right. As others have pointed out, a dog can appear to do well for a long time eating something that is not doing it much good. This is a testiment to the heartiness of dogs. I believe that can happen with kibble, homecooked, and raw. It is possible for any of those to become unbalanced.
I prefer the Dr. Covert Bailey approach to losing weight. Diets often do not work. For one thing, they are not permanent. For another, some diets must be specifically unbalanced for a short amount of time to reduce a particular intake. What works best is some kind of low-impact consistent exercise. This, I realize is not always possible for an owner. We each do the best we can. But I still think that whatever you can feed your dog and whatever activity you can provide with them will, in fact, help them live longer than life with a dog-fighter or their chances on U.S. 75, where traffic roles along at 70 to 80 mph.
OTOH, dogs, being closer to scavengers than we are, have a slightly different GIT and, like it or not, they are not humans.
Anyway, thanks for answering.
