A wonderful company selling raw frozen meat and veggie combo's is A Place For Paws.
www.aplaceforpaws.com They package their food in plastic containers and ship in styrofoam coolers.
They are very reasonable and and the company is a pleasure to deal with.
They also sell unbleached raw green tripe which actually doesn't smell bad at all.
I feed a combination of Nature's Logic kibble and canned formulas, A Place for Paws raw frozen meats and veggies and also Evanger's canned 100% meat diets.

I got the unbleached green tripe from A Place for Paws and I am quite pleased too.
Ella LOVES it and digests it SO well.
I'd love to buy more from A Place for Paws but all their meat practically comes with veggies. And I don't want veggies in with my dogs meat. It's unnecessary.

My Golden mix eats and love NV raw patties.  I try to remember to take 2 out to thaw..It takes about 3 hours to thaw them on the counter..  If I forget, I place one in a sealed baggie and put into a dish of hot water.  Thaws pretty quick.  The medallions thaw quicker.  His stools are perfect on them.

I would not nuk them fearing the nutreints would be destroyed even at a defrost level.

For the beef or chicken its about $3 a pound for patties.  Thats not bad compared to raw meat in the grocery store.  Patties are a little cheaper than medallions.

My puppy is starting to get them as well, she loves raw meat!   I like them becasue they are balanced, quick and easy. . My dog who just died loved them too.

I still give a couple cans of salmon and eggs to rotate things.

I would not mix kibble and raw,,,just doesn't seem right to me. (Kinda like I never put protein with pasta - its one or the other)

A Place For Paws sells many raw frozen meats that don't contain any veggies. Their organ blends, meat and bone formulas and  just chicken, are available without any veggies. Give them a try...you won't be sorry.

Yeah, but I want their rabbit and lamb without the veggies.
I wonder if I emailed and asked them if they could prepare a meat only mix for me.
I doubt it, though, because their mixes are all packaged already. And if they do, they'll probably charge me double.

    Ella LOVES their tripe though.

I feed the medallions.   I take out the number Louise eats in a day the night before and put them in a container in the refrigerator.   The next day they're thawed and ready to eat.

I've often wondered about buying raw food from pet suply places.  Do you have to ask for it?  Do they keep it in a freezer?  Where you you get it from?

How does that work, do you write down what you want to order then call that # and tell them what you want?  How much is shipping?  The map says it will take 4 days to ship to my area, I'm worried that might be a little long for frozen raw.

It looks like it's exactly what I'm looking for but I'm a little worried about the shipping part of everything.

Edit: I looked around a bit more on the site and started a cart.  The prices are great but the shipping and handeling fees are more then the total amount of the food.  If I could aford the shipping I would go that route but it's a bit high[:(]

I believe it took them 4 days or so to get it to me when I ordered.
It comes in a styrofoam cooler packed tightly with newspaper. My 5 containers were frozen solid still. I had to set them out to thaw over night.

5 2lb. containers cost me $29 after shipping and handling. That comes to about $3 a pound, or $2 a pound without the shipping and handling.

Until I can find tripe locally, I'll be ordering it from them.

We have a local store that carries the NB kibble that I feed.  One day they had set up a freezer with the NV logo on it.  I don't have to ask for it, its a help yourself deal.  It gives the prices and amounts right on the door.  Pretty easy! [:D]

Xebby, do you have some feed sttores in your area; the type that sell horse and chicken feed? That's where I get the eagle pack for Jessie and the NV Raw; it's in a freezer. There's a store locator on thier website;  [linkhttp://www.naturesvariety.com/where.lasso?r=0731418]http://www.naturesvariety.com/where.lasso?r=0731418[/link];  you may be able to find a store near you that carries NV using that, but you would have to call the store and see if they have the raw.

Sorry for the double post; I tried to edit the typos from the first post and hit the wrong key somewhere.[&:]
    • Gold Top Dog
My organic ;pet food store has several freezers.  They contain, NV, Bravo, or Steves Real Meat or raw bones.  Its help yourself.

Bravo is just meat and bones I believe.  PATTIES

Steves Real Meat has meat, bones, veggies, and supplements I believe.  NUGGETS

My dogs love them all.  I have been sticking with NV cause I can store the 6 lb bags easily in my freezer.

humm... looks like I will be calling around to find what I'm looking for.[:D

The raw concept is still very new to me and I would trust buying something prepared for dogs rather then buying the meat myself and not sure what I'm looking for.  It's also hard to find bulk raw lamb so I think this would defiantly be the way to go.

I'm still debating weather or not I should order from [linkhttp://www.aplaceforpaws.com/]www.aplaceforpaws.com[/link], they seem to have exactly what I'm looking for but for a $22 order shipping is about $40 to my zip code making the meat cost more then what I can get it in the stores.[:(]  Anyone know of anouther place I could order raw that is similar to that place?
