**DOG FOOD - The Owners Tell All**

I do not have a lot of experience with different foods but here are my  [sm=2cents.gif]

    Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy :
I started both of mine on Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy for their first year and they did fine on it. When Spip turned one I would have gone on with Eukanuba (where I come from it is considered one of the top of the line foods and I did not know better at the time) if she had not suddenly refused it (after a stay at the vet for boarding ... so was it the food or the stress ?).

    Natural Balance Ultra Premium:
Switched them when they turned one and they are still on it. Good coats, very firm poop from the Lab, no poop problem for the Golden. Way less poop than on the Eukanuba though. Energy level consistant with their very different natures (a couch potato and a ;pill). I would like to get them on the organic formula but I cannot find it in big bags around here and using the small bags would be prohibitive.

Most importantly, let's have fun with this! [:)]

First off I have sighthounds with very picky digestive systems and no sebaceous glands-and they are active!
They eat Solid Gold Wolf King supplemented with raw beef or raw chicken thighs, or cooked lamb, raw eggs and whatever vegetables are in the fridge.

They dig in and the food's gone within 60 seconds or so- and that's one cup or so.

Energy:  Plug my two in, they could power NYC!

Stools:  Solid-with more raw the stools are almost flaky with no odor.

Skin and coat:  Glossy with no oilyness, a small bit of dandruff but only in cold months.

General Appearance of dogs: Healthy, thin (at or just below target weight) active, alert.  Healthy white teeth, nails in good condition, eyes bright and responsive.

I'm a big fan of the Wolf King because it offers Bison and Salmon as primary protein sources-since my two aren't the best at processing typical sources.

I have a new review for:

Solid Gold's Barking at the Moon.

They love the taste. It smells fishy (being salmon based).  They've been on it for 6 weeks now and their coats have bloomed! Gorgeous and thick on my bichons, especially Lexi's, since her coat went to crap since the vaccine reaction back in july '05. though it could be that she's also exposed to cold temps, which she hasn't been in long cold temps in several years.

    Poops are small, dark, firm.

Even feeding 1/4 cup twice a day, they've gained a TON of weight in just 6 weeks.  Gobie my minpin gained 3, as did Darby and Lexi's put on 4!

They are mostly couch potatoes though. THey do walk with me a few times a week.  Gob will do anything to chase a ball.

I'm going to switch them off of it.  I've been doing mostly homecooked lately www.dogiebag.com and will use kibble as a sometimes meal I think.

There's my review.  If I had something like a very intense agility dog, I'd use this food w/out a doubt :)
