    kiwi fruit?

Just checking this is OK for dogs - shared a bit with Bugsy at lunch and man oh man did he love it!  Of course he loves all fruit & veg

I have no idea about Kiwi, but I would assume it would be fine. I just know grapes are bad...

A Kiwi sure sounds good right now...[:)]

Ben managed to steal some the other day (clumsy me, I dropped a package of fruit salad on the floor) and he didn't seem to suffer any effects.  I think he only got about 2 or 3 chunks of kiwi (plus some mango and a few blueberries) but he was fine.

Kiwi is fine. I had some over-ripe kiwis to get rid of last summer and incorporated them into the dog's food.

They are a great source of several typical fruity nutrients. [:)] And they are sugary enough that they are palatable to a lot of dogs.

Grey Kiwi here, would prefer to be green with brown fur[:D]
I freeze down the over ripe ones to use in a marinade for melt in the mouth BBQ steak.
    Doglet gets some occasionally.

Oh you two kiwis are just to cute! I would love to visit New Zealand someday.

You may correct me if I'm wrong. A co-worker had told me that people there called themselves kiwis, in honor of a now extinct bird, as opposed to the fruit. Is that correct?

    • Gold Top Dog
Yes, you would be correct. [:)]
But a Kiwi is a kiwi is a kiwi, really.

Thank you for clarifying. I was going to college part-time in 1984 and knew a young lady from New Zealand. Absolutely delightful accent. We didn't talk much about kiwis, though.

I think our accent is rather horrible, personally. However, luckily as a country we have other things going for us (or so I would like to think).

Sorry for the thread hijack, kpwlee! [&:]

Bugsy LOVES mango - we were getting them regular last month and its the only thing that has him drooling.  He'd see us reach for the mango and come sit underfoot with his juices going - amazed both of us
He's never met a food he doesn't love (he's part lab) with his favorites being mango, banana, pb, and yogurt - kiwi seemed right up there though!
Whereabouts in England are you - I lived in the Manchester area from 97-04

Ben likes mango...and all other fruits....and, well, anything.  He's all lab though.  Doesn't even have to be food for him to eat it LOL.

I live in Leicester.  I've actually never been to Manchester, unless you count changing trains at the station there.  It's one of the options on the short list for my bachelorette party, though.

Ben is very cute - I have always been around labs (as a kid, both my sisters have them and a good friend breeds and shows them) and they are my favorite breed - we decided to get a pup from the pound as in this area the amount of homeless animals is staggering.  Ours is lab/great dane (most people think he is a very tall lab) and also isn't too bothered about whether it is food or not - he sees everything as potential food.  I used to joke that when we went for walks he'd see birds and get this look, "its a steaming drumstick" like in the cartoons.  About a month ago he discovered a bowl of vanilla potpourri that is wood chunks, pine cones etc.  that sits on a corner table.  This is now about chin high for him and I swear he hought we set it our for him.  Vanilla wood how much better does it get???

Anyway Manchester certainly has a lively club/pub scene which would make it a nice place to go for a hen night!
