Royal Canin

all of their formulas contain corn gluten. Corn gluten is added to dog foods so they can claim there is a much higher % of protein in the food. Corn gluten is not a complete protein, so you can't believe what the label says about its protein content.
And their breed-specific marketing is a bit weird. What bag are you supposed to choose for mixed-breeds?

I spot checked about 10 formulas. Only 1 contained corn gluten meal as a main ingredient (before the fat source) and 3 didn't contain corn at all.

Not all of their formulas are breed specific.

They have a food for " normal dogs" under all three of the catagories; mini, medium, and maxi. Most of the breed specific formulas are for small dogs.

Dodger had Royal Canin as a puppy (Maxi and Natural Blend) he liked it but it produced an insane amount of poop and gas on it...  Not really top quality IMO.

As an aside - my cat has been stuck on the Siamese RC breed formula for 2 years - she refuses to eat anything else so I am stuck spending $35 for 3.5lbs - its crappy but she loves it.
