Well now just hold on a sec! (NDF2)

So you all know my ongoing saga with food and Darby's ear/yeast/feet/lipfold issues. And Lexi to a lesser extent, she has only had one ear infection in her 10 years and Gobie the minpin terror can eat just about anything and look great.

WEll they've been on NDF2 now for 3+ weeks now. I have been battling Darby's ear which initially got worse when I first started feeding it. I peered into her ear to clean it yesterday and whaddya know!? it' sclean! No more gunk/infection! Her foot chewing is a lot less but lips still yeasty. And tear stains are pretty bad, considering trying angel' glow product for her.

On top of that, Lexi, whose coat has never been good since a vaccine reaction when she was 7, is GROWING TONS OF COAT! She looks like a wooly bear and I trim her about half as often as I have Darby. She just never grows that much coat and it's always quite sparse. IT's now thickening up. Her tear staining is clearing up!

Soooo... I may stick with it. Almost done with the first 5lb bag of ndf and have another 5lb bag to feed. Still, Darby gets allergy testing next week and curious to see what I find out...

The saga continues.

That's great; looks like you've found the right food for them. I have a tip about the yeast in Darby's lip folds; Jessie has the same problem and our derm vet said to rub a small amount of Lamisil in the red areas twice a day. It works for Jessie and clears up the redness in a few days.

Still, Darby gets allergy testing next week and curious to see what I find out...

Is he getting tested for environmental allergies or food allergies? My derm vet said the blood tests for food allergies are very unreliable. She is a professor at Purdue so she probably knows her stuff.

I've heard this a lot lately about the allergy testing being unreliable. I'm considering cancelling it and go from there since she seems to be doing great for the most part now except for the ears.

Blood testing for environmental allergies is pretty good; almost as good as skin testing, so you may want to go ahead with that part.

I don't consider it The Holy Grail, but did find it extremely helpful. Unfortunately, it didn't find sensitivities, only true allergies, so I'm still having to slowly test everything that tested negative, elimination diet-style. I'm really satisfied with it, and it wasn't much more than the environmental alone.

I'm thrilled, though, that they're doing better! I hope the food continues to work.
