New and improved allergy food = ear itching?

I've had Sassy on Natural Balance Duck and Potato food for a few yrs now. Prior to switching her to the food, she had horrible ear problems and once I made the switch, they came to a complete stop. The last few days she's been shaking her head like crazy. Her ears look fine but I've been using Oti Clense and Mal Otic anyway. DH was the one who mentioned that when he bought the latest bag, it said "new and improved". We just started this new bag 5-6 days ago, so it almost seems like a no brainer that this is the cause. I've emailed the co. to ask about it but I'm thinking I should switch her to one of their other formulas. Anyone else had any problems?

    Here's what their website says:

     New & Improved!

We have recently improved our Potato & Duck Formula by adding more fresh duck and potato protein. This improvement enhances the performance of the product, but may lighten the kibble color. This change was made because we have found it increasingly difficult to obtain the quality and quantity of duck meal that our rigorous standards require, therefore we have elected to remove this ingredient. We have been feeding this formula for the last six months to many of our own Natural Balance pets and it has produced exceptional results.

A friend of mine fed it, and her dog flat out quit eating it. Several folks on the Crested board have been upset about it, too. Seems it's bothering skin and tummies.

Thanks Jennie. It makes me feel better to know it's not just us. Sassy is a chow hound, so she'd never turn her nose up at it, but the changes in her coupled with the change in the food, probably aren't coincidental. I may have to feed it to Buffy and buy the sweet potato and venison.
