If for some reason you prefer to feed an adult or ALS formula, you can simply give a high quality fish body oil, plus about 100 mg of vitamin E (the antioxidant that dogs need) per 20 pounds of pup (but no more than 400 mg per day), along with their food.
In fact, this is a better way to guarantee your pup will actually get it. Omega fatty acids (of which DHA is one), are highly temperature, light, and oxygen sensitive.
It's almost impossible that any added to food will survive processing, packing, storing, transport, shelving, and then being exposed to air and light as you feed out the food. So adding fish oil, which contains not just DHA but also EPA which is important for their developing immune systems, will ensure they get the full benefit of the supplement.
This gives you the freedom to choose any food that you like without having to narrow it down to only those that offer the extra DHA.
