Rivers & back to square 1....need ideas....

Rivers was and probably still is doing good on Cal Natural lamb/rice puppy formula.

However, he has one ear that developed an infection; vet put him on ear drops that contain a steroid. Now the guy has the pooies; can the poops be associated with an ear drop steroid???

And, I'm truly hoping his ear issue is related to the recent camping trip we took and not a new food allergy issue creeping up. I always make sure to never get his ears wet, although he does play in the rivers/lakes, but under my control so he doesn't get too wet. River water here is REALLY cold and FAST running.

We tried mixing the Orijen fish into his food 2-3 weeks ago; didn't work, he got the poops right off the bat. And aside from this pooping episode last night, the Cal natural's been working.

However, my concerns are...what's caused the ear to get ticked off? And, what's causing the recent diarreah??

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Rivers seems to tolerate brown and white rice, but so far, no other grains, aside from potatoes; seems to be irritated by some fish and dairy as well.

Is it possible that the poop is related more to the rivers and puddles than the food?

We made sure he didn't drink out of the river at all times; I never turned him lose basically.

One thing that has come to mind, that I forgot. Rivers was having a ball digging DEEP holes all around our campground site; kept him busy so we didn't think too much into it. But now, I'm wondering if that's why one ears infected but not the other?? Dirt perhaps.

My Darby has ear issues when she eats cal. nat.  and I put her back onto our old favorite PetGuard Lifespan. I know I always talk about it, but she does so well on it. As do the other 2 guys.

Rivers's ear cleared up with a bit of a saline solution rinse; think he just had debris in the one ear.

Diarrhea cleared up too. We're beginning to believe that it's the sediment left in the water tank of the 5th wheel when we take trips that's causing the loose stool; at least on the last 2 trips.

Keeping him on the Cal natural for now, as his ear seemed to be related to the trip, thus far.
