Soy-Free Vitamin E?

    Soy-Free Vitamin E?

Has anyone found a good source of Vitamin E that doesn't have soy? Pirate's home-cooked food needs me to supplement both D and E - except every liquid Vitamin E I can find has stupid soy!

He can't have the soy because it makes his seizure-y-ness much more noticeable.

Have you talked to Mordy about this? Ben was able to handle high-quality soy derivative E with no problem, and he was really sensitive to it too. I had the same problem. When they make the E, apparently they seperate out the protein that Ben had trouble with. He couldn't take el cheapo brands because they aren't careful, but the E in the Seapet fish oil was just fine, for instance.

I like all of Now Foods products, and Blue Bonnet. Both have dry E formulas which are apparently the least allergenic forms of E commonly available.

I have the NOW brand, uh...now (LOL). I asked Mordanna about it and she found a company that makes a soy-free capsule, but it's made of rice bran, and Pi can't have grain either.

I might just try a different product...maybe it's just the NOW brand he doesn't like. I think I might have Mordanna tweak a couple things (the portion size still isn't quite right - a week's worth lasts me about 10 days) so maybe there is a way that I wouldn't have to supplement Vit E...

It's not so much that's he's sensitive in the allergic sense of the word - it just really messes with his seizures. He's been obsessively sniffing the carpet for a good 30 seconds now...drives me nuts!

There's some food that's particularly high in E - one of the ground nuts maybe? Maybe you could include that instead.

Mmm, nuts. I'm hungry - lol!

Speaking of nuts -- (this is MY thread so I choose to go OT)

Monica Segal carries vitamin E capsules;       http://www.monicasegal.com/catalog/product.php?cPath=23_1&products_id=48

I use them for Jessie but don't know if the oil is soy based. You can e-mail her and ask. Poor Pirate; I hope you find a source he can tolerate.

Edited to add; I did a search on K9 Kitchen and someone posted that they were looking for a vitamin E supplement that was wheat and soy free. One of the mods said Monica's was.

I went on a hunt a while ago for non soy vitamin E.  The only place I could find it was at Loblaws in their Natural Healthy section.  But the dosage of 400IU and I was looking for 200IU. Their were two brands I believe.  I can't remember the names though :( but next time I'm in I'll look.

thought this might be a possibility, but it has corn. :) Good luck!
