Ingredient Question?

 I wouldn't call it "good". It is probably the best you can get at Kroger, but that isn't saying much. It's very similar to Nutro Natural Choice  chicken rice and oatmeal, and lamb meal and rice. I would actually say it is a bit better than the Nutro because it has chicken meal as a first ingredient and the new Nutro uses just "chicken" as their first ingredient. Also..the Lassie food doesn't use menadione, and last I checked Nutro still did. With all that said it isn't a horrible food, there is definitely worse. But..the main ingredient in that food is rice because of the ingredient splitting they do.

Ok thanks. So what do I need to look for when I am reading labels? It is all so confuseing. I know corn is bad but not sure what else is good/bad. Thanks for all your help just trying to do the best I can by my furbabys.

Corn isn't necessarily bad.  It's no worse than any other grain (and better than some) unless your dog has an allergy, intolerance or other problem with it.  The problem with corn and other grains is that many commercial dog food manufacturers use way too much of them!

IMO the very best site for learning about dog foods and ingredients is The Dog Food Project (www.dogfoodproject.com).  Spend some time clicking around there, reading as many articles as possible, and you'll have a very good foundation in what makes a dog food "good" or not.

 I have a dog who actually does best on corn as long as it's a high quality product - whole corn, not fractions and gluten, and as a carb not the main ingredient. He now eats a diet that features whole ground non-GMO corn.
